Firefighters responded to a wind-driven fire that appears to have destroyed a home in Lancaster. This video aired on NBC4 News at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

Lancaster residents said the flames were moving so quickly that they barely had time to appreciate the danger.

“All of a sudden I hear helicopters and see them and smoke,” said Paris Clark, who lives in the fire area. “You could hear it, you could actually hear them saying to evacuate.”

Three sheds and three camper vans were destroyed by the fire. The fire stopped progressing at 6:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Sunday's fire comes as firefighters battle a massive brush fire in Gorman and a slightly smaller one in Hesperia.
