Crews from Fairfield Fire were called to the Kirk Fire at 10:07 am and found flames and smoke on the north side of Jameson Canyon Road, a four-lane route linking Highway 29 with Interstate 80, according to Battalion Chief Andy Cranston.

Members of Napa County Fire and Cal Fire joined in the firefighting effort with ground crews and a helicopter. Firefighters had stopped the flames' forward progress by 11:40 am, according to Cal Fire's incident website.

There was no damage to buildings or other structures, according to Cranston, who said the fire broke out in an area covered mainly by pastureland. No injuries were reported.
