Pre-evacuation for Lost Canyon, County Road 30 in Balltown

A wildfire burns near historic Interlaken Station and the town of Twin Lakes. Anyone in the Interlaken area was asked to evacuate.

“Please evacuate the Interlaken area and County Road 25 as there is an active fire in the area. We will provide more information when we have it,” the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said. “For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergency situations, call 719-486-1249.”

The evacuation point is the 6th Street Gym, in the 100 block of East 6th Street.

The fire burned approximately 165 acres near the lakes. It is burning near the historic town of Interlaken, on the southern shore of the lakes.

Those living on Lost Canyon Road or County Road 30 in Lake County up to Balltown are subject to pre-evacuation orders. Those who live in the area should be prepared to leave.

The fire was first reported around 2 p.m. on Tuesday June 11. Emergency responders are asking people to avoid the area and avoid calling dispatch with questions to allow them to work.

The Leadville Lake County Fire Department (LLCFR) is on scene, according to their social media account.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office will continue to provide information on its Facebook page.
