Fire destroys home in far west San Antonio; an injured firefighter

No one was home at the time, but a dog died in the fire. The house is considered a total loss.

SAN ANTONIO — A residential home was destroyed in a fire Sunday afternoon, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

The fire broke out at a home in the 600 block of Lynx Mountain on San Antonio's far west side around 6:15 p.m.

A fire battalion chief at the scene said no one was home at the time of the fire. A firefighter was slightly injured.

One dog died in the fire, but two others were rescued, he said.

The roof of the house collapsed and was a total loss, the battalion chief said.

The fire is believed to be accidental and remains under investigation, he said.
