Fire crews believe lightning caused house fire in northern Allegheny County

PINE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Homeowners and first responders believe a house fire in Pine Township may have been started by lightning.

Fire crews were called to the house on McFadden Drive around 4pm on Saturday when the fire broke out.

They said the fire was confined to the second floor of the home and only in two rooms.

It is believed the fire started because of the location of the house.

“Where this house is, it's on the highest part of the hill, and with the lightning, we think that because it was on the high part of the hill, that's where she was hit,” said the deputy fire chief of the Wexford Volunteer Fire Company. Jacob Ballard.

No injuries were reported in the fire as everyone was able to get out safely, but firefighters rescued three cats from the home.
