Firefighters were in the 100 block of Bellevue Avenue in Springfield Township Saturday afternoon for a house fire.

The dispatch around 2:15 p.m. concerned a terrace fire, with possible a propane tank explosion.

Radio traffic showed the chief on scene requested a second alarm.

Water supply was also an early problem as the fire spread. Heat was a problem and crews had to shoot with the mercury exceeding 95 degrees.

Searches of the property came back negative, although a cat was found by firefighters.

After 30 minutes, most of the fire would have been extinguished and extensive repairs would be necessary. The incident was declared under control approximately an hour after the intervention.

Official details were not yet available.
