Fire at another vacant Shreveport apartment complex

This story has been updated to reflect additional injuries.

Another apartment complex caught fire in Shreveport Sunday morning.

On June 23, shortly after 8:30 a.m., Shreveport firefighters were dispatched to the 7200 block of Bernstein Avenue for reports of a fire. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from a building at the Linwood Homes apartment complex.

Firefighters confirmed there were no occupants inside the building and initiated an exterior defensive attack using towing ladder trucks. According to the fire department, Linwood Homes is currently not in operation and does not have any electrical service on the property.

The fire was brought under control thanks to the efforts of 32 firefighters in less than an hour. One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.

The Shreveport Fire Department released this statement:

Over the past month, SFD has responded to fires at Jolie Apartments, The Pines Apartments and now Linwood Homes. All three properties are vacant, with the first two posted under Mayor Tom Arceneaux's public health and safety emergency declaration. The fires at Jolie and The Pines apartments caused multiple injuries to firefighters. Due to the increased danger to the safety of the public and first responders, anyone who witnesses suspicious activity at these properties or at any of the city's vacant apartment complexes is encouraged to contact authorities.
