Filming at FJ “Red” Kane Park in Arlington Texas: the last

The shooting happened Sunday at a park in the 6500 block of N. Cooper Street.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A man was fatally shot by an Arlington police officer after the man fatally shot a woman at FJ “Red” Kane Park in Arlington Sunday evening, police said. No officers were injured in the shooting, police said.

Police responded to the park in the 6500 block of S. Cooper Street around 10:30 p.m. Sunday following a reported disturbance involving a man, later identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office as Shannon Boyd, 42, of Irving and a 40-year-old man. -old woman who was dating, Sgt. » said Alex Rosado during a press conference on Monday.

“As the officers pulled into the parking lot and exited their patrol vehicles, the man pulled out a handgun and fired several shots, striking the woman. The officers then immediately fired their handgun. service, hitting the man,” Rosado said.

It's unclear how many shots were fired.

Officers provided first aid to the woman and Boyd until paramedics arrived and transported them to local hospitals, where Boyd was pronounced dead, Rosado said.

The woman was in critical condition, but Rosado said she was reported to be alert and breathing.

Rosado said three officers were placed on paid administrative leave, and potentially a fourth who did not fire a weapon.

Two investigations into the incident are underway simultaneously: a criminal investigation by the Arlington Police Department's homicide team and an administrative investigation by internal affairs to determine whether or not department policy was followed.

Rosado said police recovered a weapon at the scene and were working to determine how it was obtained.

Police did not release additional information about a potential motive, but Rosado said “we believe there is a history of domestic violence.”

“We are still working with our partner agencies to determine exactly what the scope is between the two,” he added.

Rosado said Arlington parks typically close at 10 p.m., but it's unclear whether FJ “Red” Kane Park was closed at that time or whether or not they were the only ones in the park at that time.

Rosado said additional details, body camera and other footage of the shooting will be released later.
