The music festival attended by missing teenager Jay Slater in Tenerife has released a statement as the search for him enters its sixth day.

The 19-year-old Brit had flown to Tenerife with a few friends to attend the New Rave Generation (NRG) event which kicked off on the island on June 14, with attendees enjoying parties on the beach, at the pool and by boat as well as day and night raves. .

According to his friend Lucy Law, Jay decided to stay out with a group of people he had met on Sunday evening (June 16).

She has since told how she received a frantic phone call from him at around 8am the next morning, telling her he was “in the middle of nowhere”, desperately needed a drink and that he had 1% battery left on his phone.

It is believed he was attempting an 11-hour walk through Teno National Park, in the north of the island, to return to his resort after returning to Casa Abuela Tina with the people he had met at the NRG. festival.

She told the MEN: It's dangerous to walk around here, it's easy to get lost. He was walking down the road when I last saw him.”

Jay's friend Lucy, who said she “had never been so worried in her life”, also claimed that the young boy had informed her that he had injured his leg on a cactus.

The Lancashire native's family made frantic efforts to find him and flew to Tenerife to help with the search, telling media they believed he could have been “taken against his will”.

The hunt for Jay continues, with police scouring the mountains as well as a 2,000-foot ravine near his last known location, from where he called his friend Lucy.

The NRG festival released a statement regarding the missing boy.

In a message shared on social media, organizers said: “First of all, thank you to everyone who came to our NRG event in Tenerife last weekend.

“As you know, among the participants was Jay Slater, 19, who, after leaving the event, was reported missing on Monday in the north of the island.

“We have been able to provide practical support to Jay’s family members who came to Tenerife in such difficult circumstances, and we are inspired by their resilience and determination.

“Like them and you, we continue to hope for Jay’s safe return.

There was a fresh outpouring of support for the search for Jay in the comments section, with people saying they were “praying” that the Briton would be found.

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a gray t-shirt, a black bag, shorts and sneakers.
