Fentanyl, Meth Supplier Sentenced After Undercover Police Officer Arrests in Manassas

MANASSAS, VA — A man was convicted Wednesday in a drug trafficking scheme in which an undercover police officer coordinated drug shipments to Manassas.

Prosecutors say Sean Michael Johnson, 26, of Oregon, is a longtime narcotics supplier in the United States and sold thousands of fentanyl pills to a person in Virginia since at least May 2020. After When an undercover police officer contacted Johnson to determine his supply of fentanyl, Johnson arranged for 2,000 fentanyl pills to be mailed from California to Manassas. The undercover cop arranged another sale in February 2023 for 5,000 fentanyl pills and a pound of methamphetamine mailed to Manassas. This methamphetamine has been tested at approximately 100 percent purity.

Two additional mail shipments to Manassas were arranged, each containing 5,000 fentanyl pills and 10 pounds of methamphetamine. The undercover officer attempted to trade 25,000 fentanyl pills, 20 pounds of methamphetamine, and a kilogram of fentanyl powder with Johnson's supplier in California. The deal was completed, except that only three-quarters of the fentanyl powder was supplied. A final deal with Johnson's supplier in California regarding 100 pounds of methamphetamine led to the arrest of Johnson and the supplier on December 6, 2023.

Overall, prosecutors say Johnson distributed 63.1 kilograms of methamphetamine, 4.4 kilograms of fentanyl pills and 800 grams of fentanyl powder during the six undercover police buys.

Johnson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute mass quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine on February 29. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison.
