Fentanyl, cocaine and cash found during arrest of New Bern shooting suspect

A search warrant related to a salon shooting led to the arrest of a man in New Bern Wednesday.

At approximately 6:24 p.m., officers from the New Bern Police Department, along with other agencies, attempted to serve Jerr Ian Jer Quel Moore with an arrest warrant for criminal conspiracy related to a shooting at 30 Sumn Ultra Lounge on June 14.

Police said Moore retreated to the Ruth Avenue home and was arrested a short time later.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home and found a large quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, a firearm and cash. Evidence also indicated that the house operated as an illegal alcohol outlet.

Verronda Johnson, 50, was cited for selling alcohol without a license.

Moore faces various charges, including:

  • Fentanyl/heroin trafficking
  • Possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, marijuana, and a Schedule I controlled substance
  • Marijuana possession offense
  • Tampering with evidence
  • Maintaining a home for controlled substances
  • Resisting arrest
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Moore is being held at the Craven County Detention Center without bond.

His court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
