Felon sentenced to 3 years in prison after gun incident in McLean area

A federal judge in the Eastern District of Virginia sentenced a Stafford man to three years in prison on May 29 for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

According to court documents, on December 3, 2023, loss prevention staff at a McLean department store observed Najee Lewis, 27, aka “Bebo,” shoplifting merchandise.

Loss prevention personnel apprehended Lewis and contacted the Fairfax County Police Department, whose officers recovered a loaded .40 caliber Glock handgun from the suspect's pants. The firearm contained one round in the chamber and 22 rounds in an extended magazine, authorities said.

Lewis had previously been convicted in Prince William Circuit Court of two separate robbery offenses occurring two days apart, and sentenced concurrently for both offenses.

In May 2018, Lewis was released from prison for these robbery convictions and began a 10-year period of supervised probation. Less than four months after his release from prison, while he was still under surveillance in Virginia, a video clip showing Lewis with a stolen 9mm handgun was posted to YouTube, authorities said.

Lewis was convicted of illegal possession of a firearm, which violated the terms of his supervised release. As a convicted felon, Lewis cannot legally possess a firearm or ammunition.
