The complaint accuses the city of illegally closing more than 200 businesses over the past six weeks under the state government's recently enacted SMOKEOUT law.

Brooklyn lawyer seeks class-action status for 27 clients accused of illegally selling marijuana in federal civil rights lawsuit against New York City and its use of a local option to padlock companies immediately without a court order.

The city and a number of city officials are named as defendants in the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan by Anthony Lazzaro of the Lazzaro Law Firm in Brooklyn.
