FBI now investigating case of missing child and woman | Spokane News

SPOKANE, Wash. — On Wednesday, Pullman police issued an arrest warrant for Aaron Aung, 21, the father of two-year-old Sereya.

The little girl was apparently with her father and was reported missing Monday when he failed to bring her back for a custody exchange with the child's mother. To further complicate matters, Aung's fiancée, Nadia Cole, has been missing since May 28.

This case involves multiple agencies and extends across the state lines of Montana and Idaho. NonStop Local confirmed with the Pullman Police Department that it also works with outside agencies in southern Idaho.

NonStop Local spoke with the Flathead County Sheriff's Office, who confirmed they were involved in the case. However, they said there was not enough evidence to support that Sereya and Aung ever traveled to Montana.

According to the Washington State Patrol, she is not involved in the case because an Amber Alert was not issued. Pullman police said they did not issue an Amber Alert because the evidence must indicate Sereya is in imminent danger, and so far their investigation has yet to show that. They say at that time; their investigation shows that Aung may be trying to deny Sereya's mother access to her rather than harming the 2-year-old.

Without commenting on the details of this case, Richard Collodi of the FBI said they were actively assisting the agencies involved. He added that they often work alongside local law enforcement, providing support when needed, particularly if a person suspected of being missing has left the state.

“The whole public safety approach is that it will be all hands on deck. Any time we have these kinds of issues, we will call on every agency that may have a lead that may have advice, or a special skill or technique or tool. We will recruit them to become partners in this effort.

He said another essential element of this type of investigation is information from the public.

“These tips, these leads are the key to successfully locating and rescuing victims.”

Aung is 5' 9″, 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

If you have seen Aaron Aung, Sereya or Nadia Cole, you are asked to contact police immediately.
