CONVICTED IN JULY. TONIGHT, A MILWAUKEE MAN FACES CHARGES FOR THE SHOOTING OF HIS THREE-YEAR-OLD SON. THIS HAPPENED ON MAY 16 NEAR 76TH AND SILVER SPRING IN MILWAUKEE. He's on the run tonight, but he's wanted and charged in this shooting. And now, for the first time tonight, we hear more about what happened. According to the little boy on North 76th Street it is safe to enter upon arrival, 3-year-old Isaiah Brooks was shot in the stomach. MAY 16, NEAR 76, AT SILVER SPRING IN MILWAUKEE. HER FATHER, ISAIAH BROOKS, 24, IS NOW CHARGED IN THE CASE, INCLUDING TWO OFFENSES OF CHILD NEGLIGENCE AND BAIL JUMPING. THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT SAYS. ISAIAH'S MOTHER TALKED TO BROOKS AFTER THE SHOOTING TO FIND OUT HOW IT HAPPENED, THE COMPLAINT SAYS. Brooks said a friend's gun was sitting on the fryer. He said he didn't see the boy grab the gun because he was making him food, but then he heard the gun go off. LITTLE ISAIAH TOLD A DIFFERENT STORY. THE COURT DOCUMENTS SAY SO. When asked about his stomach, Isaiah said, “Dad, Dad blew it.” When asked what Dad did, he said gun and clarified gun black. 12 NEWS SPOKEN TO THE BOY'S MOM THE DAY AFTER THE SHOOTING. BUT I WOULD NOT WISH THIS ON MY WORST ENEMY, THAT'S FOR SURE. And Christian, there's an arrest warrant out for the boy's father. THERE IS AN ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR THE BOY'S FATHER. The father of a 3-year-old boy who was shot in the stomach May 16 near 76th Street and Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee now faces charges. Isaiah Brooks' father, Esaius Brooks, 24, is charged with two felonies for neglect of a child and bail jumping. The criminal complaint says Isaiah's mother spoke to Brooks after the shooting to find out how it happened. The complaint says Brooks claimed a friend's gun “was sitting on top of the air fryer.” He said he didn't see the boy grab the gun because he was making him food, but “then he heard the gunshot.” Isaiah told authorities a different story. Court documents state that when asked about his stomach, Isaiah said, “Daddy, daddy blew it.” When asked what Dad popped, he replied, “The gun,” and clarified, “The black gun.” WISN 12 News spoke to the boy's mother the day after the shooting. “I was told my son had been shot, and it kind of stunned me,” said Janiya Barnes, Isaiah’s mother. “I feel terrified, but happy at the same time because my son is here with me. He's fine at the moment. But I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, that's for sure.” According to court documents, Books was not sent. to the hospital with her son after his 3-year-old son was shot.

“I was told my son had been shot, and it kind of stunned me,” said Janiya Barnes, Isaiah’s mother. “I feel terrified, but blessed at the same time because my son is here with me. He's fine at the moment. But I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, that's for sure.”

According to court documents, Books did not go to the hospital with his son after the 3-year-old son was shot.
