Father killed in Epicenter bombing in Kharkiv identified by son's DNA — online.ua

Police have identified the body of a 38-year-old man killed during the Russian army's bombing of the Epicenter, using the DNA of his eight-year-old son.

The body of the deceased was identified this evening based on DNA analysis taken from the boy, the report states.


As the press service reported, the child and his mother appeared on May 26 at the headquarters of the investigative service, deployed near the destroyed supermarket. The boy did not wait for his father to return from work. They heard about the tragedy and reported to the police the next day.

According to police, Oleksandr, 38, worked in a supermarket and died on May 25 when the Russians killed him by dropping two aerial bombs on the supermarket in the middle of the workday.

As of 6 a.m., police identified 16 bodies out of 17 dead. Search operations are ongoing, the press service said.

According to the Kharkiv region prosecutor's office, 44 people were injured and 14 killed.

11 victims were identified, including a 12-year-old girl and her mother.

Four human body fragments were also found. Currently, seven people are missing.

Videos from surveillance cameras were analyzed and it was established that at least 20 people were at the epicenter of the explosions.
