Fatal shooting in La Vergne, TN apartment complex, at least 1 person taken to hospital

LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The La Vergne Police Department has confirmed a double homicide at an apartment complex located in the 5400 block of Murfreesboro Road.

La Vergne police said they responded to a call about a fight in progress around 5:45 p.m. One person, a 23-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a press conference, other victims were injured.

The second victim was a 39-year-old man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated at the scene before eventually being transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died.

The La Vergne police headquarters added that during their investigation they found a third victim, a 45-year-old woman. The victim suffered a minor chest injury and was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital. All of the victims were residents of La Vergne.

There are currently four persons of interest in custody, although La Vergne police noted that this is a fluid investigation and details are subject to change. This incident left several shooters and several injured. They said the incident stemmed from an argument that turned into a fight. According to a press release, the shooting is believed to be isolated and there is no threat to the public.
