Fatal Creedmoor Road crash closes NC 50 in Wake County near Shooting Club Road

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — One person is dead after a crash that closed part of NC 50/Creedmoor Road in northern Wake County for a few hours Tuesday morning.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said two vehicles were involved in the crash and one of the occupants was killed. A CBS 17 crew on scene saw at least one vehicle overturned.

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation map, the road was closed in both directions between Shooting Club Road and Baron's Grant Road. The location is approximately two and a half miles north of Interstate 540.

“The expected traffic impact is high,” according to the NCDOT incident alert.

This section of Creedmoor Road reopened around 8:40 a.m., but the shoulder remains closed. NCDOT says motorists should follow instructions from on-site responders for detours.

First responders on scene include Wake EMS, Northern Wake Fire Department and Durham Highway Fire Department. The Wake County Sheriff's Office is also on hand to assist with traffic.
