Fatal Clifton Park crash victim identified

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) – State Police have identified the victim involved in a fatal crash Wednesday evening in Clifton Park. Officers said Christopher E. Merritt, 41, of Spring Hill, Fla., was killed after a vehicle struck him on NY 146 near the US 9 intersection.

The crash occurred at 10:23 p.m., while Merritt was crossing the road, not in a crosswalk, and he was struck by two vehicles traveling eastbound, according to Troopers. Both cars stopped to call 911 and cooperated fully with the investigation.

The crash closed a portion of NY 146 and all eastbound lanes between Fire Road in Clifton Park and US 9 in Halfmoon for approximately four hours while the investigation and collision reconstruction were conducted.
