Family of young man shot and killed near 14th and Atkinson calls for justice

MILWAUKEE — Christopher Neal is remembered by loved ones as funny, loving and hardworking. He was killed at 14th and Atkinson, between a church and a bar.

On Monday, his mother and family demanded justice.

“I love my baby, I loved my son,” said Yolanda Neal, Christopher Neal’s mother.

The Neal family is mourning the murder of their 24-year-old Christopher.

This is Christopher Neal's family, they say he was funny, loving, hardworking and loved his family very much. They have no updates from investigators.

“He was a very intelligent individual. He was a young man growing up,” Yolanda Neal said.

Christopher was a middle child. His family tells me he was a caring young man, sometimes stubborn but honest. He wanted to start his own landscaping and mobile mechanics business. He had so much more to accomplish in life.

Christopher Neal was shot and killed near 14th and Atkinson over the weekend.

“It's an injustice to the world because Chris had the potential to give to the world. Not just to his family but to the world,” said Xavier Neal, Christopher's brother.

The family says Christopher was outgoing, charismatic and caring – a wonderful and one-of-a-kind brother. He loved his brothers and sisters and helped them whenever he could.

“Brother, that’s not a statistic,” Xavier Neal said.

After being shot six times Sunday morning, Christopher died on the way to the hospital. No arrests have been made.

“Condolences mean nothing if there is no justice behind it. We just want answers at this point because vengeance is in the hands of the Lord,” said Xavier Neal.

Christopher was killed on his younger twin siblings' birthday. His family is already struggling after a previous loss due to gun violence. Now they rely on each other for strength.

“Mom already had a son shot. Her first born here, on the same side of town. I'm just in shock,” Xavier Neal said.

The owner of the bar in front of which Christopher was killed said police obtained the surveillance video as evidence. As Milwaukee police continue to investigate, Christopher's family wants the community to make a change and stand up for Chris.

“If you know something… say something.” If justice does not understand you, the Almighty will! said Xavier Neal.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help with Christopher's funeral. Click on the link
