Family of Milwaukee teen killed in shooting wants answers

The 16-year-old killed in Sunday night's shooting near 38th Street and Meinecke Avenue has been identified as Shyir McCoy. McCoy's aunt, Ieasha McCkee, said someone dropped him off in front of a relative's house instead of calling for help after he was shot. She rushed him to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital, where he later died. “There was nothing we could do because at the end of the day you all left my nephew, you all knew what it was like,” McKee said. “His life was taken, and it’s so senseless.” McKee said McCoy was supposed to be playing basketball with friends when the shooting happened. She said her nephew was an honor roll student who was starting a new job soon and didn't know why someone would shoot him and hoped those who were with him would come forward to police. “I don't wish this on anyone, not even the people who took him away from us, and I say I really hope and pray that these boys here can wake up because that's not it,” said McKee. Milwaukee police are still searching for anyone who may have been involved in the shooting and investigating what led up to it. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7360. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 414-224-tips or through the P3 Tips app.
