“Listen, on good days, [fan castings] are wonderful. When your mental health is good and you see fans throwing you, and they're like 'oh my God, you should be 'anyone,'” he began.

“Until Pedro Pascal is announced…” he said, hesitantly, explaining that “I don’t know if I have the right to talk about it”.

“I almost said something I shouldn't have said at that time,” he teased before committing to the reveal. “I didn't understand, that's the problem. But like I said, on good days, like I saw those in Constantine burning again.”

Kohli said he loved “everything [the fan casts]”, saying they make him feel “wanted” on his “good days.” He added: “You're the guy people will yell at for anything.”

“And on the bad days, it reminds you that you're not the guy. You're not there. These are roles you'll never get. So, it's nice and it's all just a matter of perspective. It’s how you feel about yourself.”

Pedro Pascal was successfully cast as Reed Richards, alongside Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm).

But even though Kohli missed out on the Fantastic Four role, he is keen to put his own stamp on the original characters. The Next Exit actor exclusively told digital spy: “I have wonderful relationships with wonderful writers and directors who are doing original things, doing their own thing.

“For me, working with a character that was original, where we chose what he looked like, that's for me… Creating your own superhero – for me, that's the ultimate, and I had the chance to do it a few times.

Fantastic Four is scheduled to release on July 25, 2025.
