Eze Igbo Ghana hails Uzodimma for rescuing trafficked Imo girls

The governor, through a delegation led by the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, and the IMO Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development,
Ms. Nkechi Ugwu managed to rescue underage girls from human trafficking in Ghana, after a series of meetings with the Ghana Police.

Other notable personalities who contributed to the rescue include: Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Amb. Adeoye Ifedayo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO-Ghana), Chief Calistus Elozieuwa and Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

Ezeigbo Ghana, while addressing the media, urged Ndigbo and Nigerians traveling to Ghana and other parts of the world to desist from any illicit activities that would cast the country in bad light.

He, however, advised those who wish to travel out of the country for greener pastures to strive to have the proper documents to avoid unpleasant consequences that would keep them stranded, even as he condemned human trafficking in strong terms humans.

Commending the governor for his impressive intervention in the areas of infrastructure development, road construction, human capacity building and peace, Ezeigbo Ghana urged parents to monitor the whereabouts of their children and encouraged the efforts of collaboration to ensure that traffickers are identified and prosecuted.

Ihenetu also advised the youth to avoid shortcuts to success but rather trust the process by taking advantage of opportunities by participating in a series of ICT skills acquisition programs of the state government and the strengthening initiatives related capabilities.
