Evacuation zone expands in Trail Fire

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Updated at 5:32 p.m.: Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue says the fire is now 100 to 125 acres and is wind driven.

More than 15 fire engines are on scene and are in place to protect the structure.

Updated at 5:14 p.m.: The evacuation zone has been expanded.

The new evacuation zone extends from North Virginia Street to the area near Peavine Peak and the Horizon Hills trailhead.

Updated at 5:03 p.m.: Nearly 3,700 people in the Stead area are without power.

Updated at 4:21 p.m.: TMFPD now says the fire is approximately 100 acres.

They are asking people not to call 911 to report smoke sightings.

Updated at 4:11 p.m.: Evacuations have been ordered for this fire.

The evacuation zone extends from North Virginia Street near US 395 to Peavine Road.

Firefighters are now calling this fire the Trail Fire.

Original article: Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District crews are responding to a fire on Red Rock Canyon Road.

They and regional fire partners are working to put out the 2.5-acre fire east of Peavine Mountain.

No structures are threatened at this time and air removal is expected soon.
