Evacuation order issued in Bodfish Canyon due to bushfire

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — An evacuation order has been issued as firefighters work to put out a brush fire that burned about 150 acres in Bodfish Friday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the area near Redhill Road and Hughes Avenue in Lake Isabella just before 3 p.m. The fire, known as the Red Fire, burned at least 150 acres of grass, officials said.

An evacuation order has been issued for residents in the KRN-748-A area. An evacuation warning has been issued for the Red Hill and Bodfish Canyon areas – or KRN-733 and KRN-748-B on the Project Genasys map.

Residents of KRN-748-A are advised to leave immediately.

You can search for the evacuation zone of your address and register for the app using this link. You can also sign up for ReadyKern at this link. Kern County uses Genasys to communicate with residents about emergency or evacuation information.

Residents should be prepared to leave if the evacuation warning becomes an evacuation order. A warning means there is a potential threat to life and/or property and anyone needing additional time to evacuate should plan to do so now. An order is issued when it is determined that there is an immediate threat to life.
