Erie teen charged with allegedly stealing dogs during burglary

(WJET/WFXP) — An Erie County teenager is facing criminal charges after allegedly stealing two dogs, among other items, and damaging other items during a burglary earlier this month.

According to Pennsylvania State Police in Erie, the suspected burglar entered a residence between 2:50 p.m. on May 6 along Cherrywood Lane in Summit Township through an unlocked window while no one was there. was at home.


Once inside, police said they took the resident's two dogs along with a sound bar and speakers worth $300, a leaf blower worth $125 and other tools, while destroying a laptop worth $100.

The next day, police said the thief returned to the area to rip out and cut the wires from the security cameras that filmed the entire incident.

The suspected burglar was identified as Richard G. Blue, 18, of Erie County. He was charged with felony misdemeanor and theft by unlawful taking, as well as two counts of felony theft by unlawful taking and one count of felony burglary.

Blue was released after posting $15,000 bail.
