ER launches a campaign to identify defects in pantographs and roofing equipment

Kolkata: Eastern Railway (ER) has launched a comprehensive campaign to identify potential defects in pantograph and roof equipment to minimize train downtime due to equipment breakdowns.

Eastern Railway has launched a collaborative initiative between the Traction Rolling (TRS) and Traction Distribution (TRD) teams, to prevent damage to Overhead Equipment (OHE) caused by defects in pantographs and roof equipment.

In April 2024, a large joint inspection campaign was carried out across the entire Eastern Railway network. During this period, 140 locomotives underwent extensive examinations, including 57 at the Howrah Electric Loco Shed, 66 at the Asansol Electric Loco Shed, three at the Barddhaman Diesel Shed, six at the Howrah Diesel Shed and eight at the Howrah Diesel Shed. diesel. shed in Jamalpur. During these inspections, any potential defects in the pantographs and roofing equipment were identified and action was taken to remedy them. According to railway authorities, this will lead to a reduction in equipment breakdowns and ensure a smoother journey for passengers by avoiding unnecessary train downtime.

“Through proactive inspections and maintenance, Eastern Railway aims to maintain the highest standards of safety and reliability in its operations,” Eastern Railway said.
