STORMTRACKER 4 ALERT: Temperatures will push a little above average this afternoon with highs around 101°/102° for the hottest spots. A few high clouds will roll into southeastern Arizona from the north throughout the day, so expect a mix of sun and high clouds. It will also remain windy at times with gusts mostly between 10 and 20 mph most of this week. With dry air and dry vegetation, remember that one less spark means one less wildfire!

Our next StormTracker Alert Days 4 are this Thursday and Friday as temperatures climb to between 101° and 111° for the warmest locations. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for all lower elevations of southeastern Arizona from 10:00 a.m. Thursday to 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure is developing off the coast of Mexico and this system will bring some moisture to Arizona as early as Thursday. Dry thunderstorms are expected south and east of Tucson on Thursday, with a chance of light rain Friday and Saturday where storms will develop. Remember, when thunder rolls, go inside! Lightning sparking new wildfires and the gusty winds that spread them quickly remain the biggest concern.

As temperatures continue to rise, remember to ALWAYS look before you lock. Never leave children or animals in your vehicle! Drink plenty of water throughout the day and also protect your four-legged friends by walking your pets on cooler surfaces. Asphalt temperatures can be about 50 degrees higher than air temperatures and your pet's paws could burn, even with highs in the 80s and 90s.

  • Tonight: Warm with decreasing clouds. Low: 70°
