Endangered elderly man missing in Portland

PORTLAND Oregon (KPTV) – The Portland Police Bureau's Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public's help in locating a missing and endangered elderly man.

The man, identified as Khamphoun Vongkhamchanh, 90, is 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds. His mother tongue is Laotian. He was last seen wearing a white or gray plaid flannel shirt, pants (possibly blue), blue shoes, and possibly a beanie.

He was last seen Monday around 2 p.m. walking west on Southeast Harney Street from Southeast 77th Avenue in the Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood. His family says he usually walks around the block and then returns home.

Vongkhamchanh was diagnosed with dementia.

The police and Khamphoun's family carefully checked the area around his house and did not find him.

Khamphoun's family and police are concerned for his well-being, given his age and his dementia diagnosis.

If anyone sees or has information on Khamphoun's whereabouts, they are asked to call 911. Anyone with information that is not urgent is asked to contact detectives at Missing @police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 24-130431.
