Emmerdale airs heartbreaking update on Angelica after sentencing

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has aired a heartbreaking update for Angelica King following her conviction.

Earlier this week, Angel was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to death for dangerous driving. The teenager admitted he was behind the wheel when his friend Heath was killed in a car crash on New Year's Eve.

Before leaving the village, Angelica apologized to Heath's father, Bob Hope, and gave him a letter – which Bob ultimately read to his family during Thursday's (March 14) episode.

“She says her life will always be divided into two parts, before and after,” Bob read to Wendy and Cathy. “She says a little bit of herself died too.”

Bob then visited the Kings to explain that he now understood that Angelica “losing a friend the way she did” was unbearable. He asked the Kings to bring Heath's sweater to Angelica during their next visit.

Nicola struggled seriously throughout the episode, admitting to Jimmy that she couldn't stop worrying about what Angel might face inside the young offenders' institution.

“This is going to last for months,” Jimmy reminded him. “We need to find a new normal.”

Sadly, any chance Nicola had of experiencing this new normal was shattered when she received a desperate phone call from Angelica.

“I don’t like it here, it’s scary,” Angelica admitted to her parents.

Nicola had to muster all her strength to assure Angelica that there was “nothing to fear.”

“You walk tall and remember that you are a king, and kings, they are wise. They are brave. Kings are special,” Nicola told her daughter.

When Angelica suddenly hung up, Nicola and Jimmy consoled each other by bursting into tears.
