An Elyria woman is facing charges after attempting to stab a teenage boy in her home June 30, according to an Elyria police report.

Coyetta Sullivan, 41, was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony; domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, and unlawful restraint, a second-degree misdemeanor.

The altercation at Sullivan's home on Bell Avenue occurred at 5 p.m. after police received a call from the victim's brother that Sullivan was “chasing him around the house with knives,” the report stated.

The teen told officers he attempted to stay away from Sullivan due to his level of intoxication as well as an altercation earlier the same day where police also were called to assist.

Sullivan allegedly approached the teen with a kitchen knife and a knife sharpener while asking him where the keys to his vehicle were located, the report stated.

When the boy told Sullivan he did not have her keys, she became aggressive toward him, according to the report.

The victim showed the officers video footage of Sullivan standing in the doorway at the top of the stairs making statements which imply the victim hit her, however, in the video she was seen swinging in the boy's direction with the knife and knife sharpener.

The boy told officers Sullivan to force him against the basement wall and showed the officers another video, which didn't have sound, but shows Sullivan talking to the victim and standing, while moving the knife and knife sharpener in what the victim described as a threatening manner.

He stopped filming, then Sullivan made a stabbing motion at him with the knife, the report stated.

The knife stabbed the television instead, possibly causing the tip of it to break off.

Sullivan continued the attack by hitting the boy on the back of the head with the knife sharpener near his right ear, causing an injury.

Sullivan then began to destroy numerous household items in the basement, the report stated.

Two 7-year-old children in Sullivan's home were placed in the care of a family member due to her arrest.

She was transported to the Lorain County Jail.

Sullivan had an arraignment hearing July 1 in Elyria Municipal Court.

She is scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing on July 9.
