Elmira man arrested after alleged assault in Ithaca | WETM

ITHACA, N.Y. (WETM) — An Elmira man was arrested over the weekend after police say he was responsible for an assault.

According to Ithaca Police, John-Tel D. Scharborough, 32, of Elmira, was arrested on several criminal charges following a report of an assault in the City of Ithaca on Saturday, June 15.

Police said that around 6:15 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of N. Main Street for a report of an assault. When police arrived, they saw Scharborough fleeing the scene and had to pursue him, catching up with him after a short chase.

Police said the victim was found and found to have suffered a laceration above his eye. They were treated at a local hospital and released.

Based on information gathered during the incident, Scharborough was charged with one count of second-degree assault, a class D felony, one count of first-degree unlawful imprisonment, one a class E felony and one count of second-degree obstruction. diploma, a class A misdemeanor.
