Elderly man arrested after allegedly fatally stabbing another man in his Las Cruces apartment

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 60-year-old Las Cruces man was arrested Wednesday, June 5, after allegedly stabbing and killing another man in a Las Cruces apartment, according to the Las Cruces Police Department and documents judicial. obtained by KTSM.

Police said Gary Allyn, 60, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one open count of murder.


Police said that after 6 p.m. that day, they were dispatched to a report of a stabbing at an apartment in the 1600 block of Missouri Avenue.

Officers arrived and found a 61-year-old man inside the apartment suffering from multiple stab wounds. He died at the scene, according to police.

Allyn was also in the apartment with blood on his hands, legs and shorts, police said.

According to court documents, when a witness asked Allyn if he killed the other man, he replied, “I did.” When the witness asked Allyn what he used, he replied, “Anything and everything.”

Court documents also state Allyn was “possibly intoxicated” at the time of the incident.

Allyn was arrested and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center, where he is initially being held without bail.

The identity of the victim will not be released until the next of kin has been duly informed, police said.
