El Paso County Sheriff's Office investigates fatal shooting at Lorson Ranch

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) – El Paso County Sheriff's deputies are actively investigating a deadly shooting that shocked a quiet neighborhood in the Lorson Ranch community Tuesday evening. The shooting left one man seriously injured and another dead.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for reports of shots fired on Abrams Drive in the Lorson Ranch neighborhoods.

Officers arrived to find three adults, an uninjured woman and two men who both had sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds. One man ultimately died while the other was taken to hospital.

Neighbors on both upper and lower Abrams Drive tell KRDO13 they were home when the 9-1-1 call came in, but they didn't hear any gunshots. Instead, they heard sirens and first responders rushing down their street, only to later learn it was a shooting.

“It was chaotic, you know, my neighbor called me and he thought it was a fire over there,” said Kerwin Griffin, who lives right next to the house that was burned. an investigation Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. “No one really knew what happened. But [as] “as soon as you see the police tape going up there, you know it's something serious,” he added.

Kerwin said an orange car parked in front of the house where the shooting took place had been there for some time after he pulled into his driveway at 6:45 Tuesday evening.

He says whatever happened at the home that led to this shooting probably happened between then and 7:33 p.m.

“It's crazy, you know, you see things happen all the time, but when it happens right next to you, it does something to you,” Griffin said.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will not say if they still have a suspect in custody or if he is deceased.
All they have said so far is that this is an active and ongoing investigation.
