Eight units affected by 2-alarm fire at south Charlotte apartment building

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person was seriously injured after crews battled a two-gun fire at a south Charlotte apartment complex Friday evening.

According to the Charlotte Fire Department, the fire happened around 6:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of Sharon Road West, near Regent Park Lane. There was heavy smoke and flames upon arrival at the two-story building.


Minutes after CFD teams arrived, a second alarm was sounded to bring additional resources to the scene. After reporting that a person was trapped in the building, firefighters rushed to rescue an occupant. That occupant was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

So far, no other injuries to civilians or firefighters have been reported. The fire was brought under control in 51 minutes. This building suffered significant damage.

Eight units were affected by the fire. The fire is currently under investigation.
