Eight Bronx Men Arrested for Selling Contraband Near Yankee Stadium

Eight Bronx men have been indicted and charged with selling guns, cocaine and methamphetamine near Yankee Stadium, according to the Bronx District Attorney.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said one of the defendants “allegedly sold eight firearms to an undercover NYPD officer” and in doing so “endangered thousands of subway riders, those who work and go to school nearby and baseball fans.”

The investigation began last March near 90 East 161st St., where the Lust Smoke Shop once stood. An undercover investigator allegedly purchased cocaine and methamphetamine pills from one of the defendants.

Further investigations uncovered allegations of cocaine cooking, packaging and sales at addresses along University Avenue near the East 161st Street store. These investigations also uncovered allegations of firearm sales, including a few blocks from Yankee Stadium at the intersection of Gerard Avenue and East 161st Street.

The defendants include men ranging in age from 21 to 60. The indictment charges 108 counts, including first-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a firearm, among other charges.

Five of the eight defendants were arraigned on Tuesday, and the three other suspects are awaiting indictment.
