EFCC officers to face disciplinary committee over alleged assault

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has set up a disciplinary committee to investigate two officers accused of assaulting a woman during a raid on a Lagos hotel on Thursday.

His spokesman, Dele Oyewale, who made the statement in a statement on Monday in Abuja, added that the offending officers were expected to appear before the panel on Monday.

Oyewale said the Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede, had set up a disciplinary team to look into the case of the two errant officers of the commission who allegedly assaulted a female employee of the Ojo Regional Hotel, Lagos.

Earlier, the police officers were seen in a viral video attacking hotel staff during an early morning sting operation on Thursday.

“Olukoyede ordered the arrest of the two officers and asked them to appear before a joint disciplinary team comprising the Appointment, Promotion and Discipline Committee, APDC and the Ethics and Integrity Department.

“They are scheduled to appear before the team on Monday, July 1, at the Commission’s Head Office, Abuja.

“The team will review the case of the police officers and recommend that appropriate disciplinary action be taken against them,” he said.

According to him, Olukoyede stressed that no effort will be spared to hold the officers to account for their unprofessional conduct.
