Eddie Murphy says getting arrested by his real daughter in 'Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F' was 'surreal'

The long-awaited third part of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Fis a family affair in more than one way.

Not only does Axel Foley, Eddie Murphy's beloved rogue detective, have to try to reconcile with his ex-daughter to save her life, but Murphy's real daughter also gets in on the action – an experience he described as “surreal”.

In one scene, Foley is arrested while trying to commandeer a traffic cop's adorable little car for a necessary police chase. The traffic cop is played by Murphy's daughter Bria, one of his 10 children. The other cop who later tasers him is none other than his new son-in-law.

“She’s the one who stops me,” Murphy said TodayIt's Al Roker, about his daughter. “And the other scene where I'm arrested in the movie is my son-in-law teasing me on the neck. It was right after they got married. It was on the set, he's tattooing me on the neck. I said, “It’s surreal.”

For those keeping track at home, that's two arrests for Foley, something he casually ignores when he reunites with John Ashton's John Taggart and Judge Reinhold's Billy Rosewood in a recreation of the original. Beverly Hills Copthe iconic patrol car scene.

Speaking of surrealism, director Mark Molloy – a huge fan of the films and of Murphy while growing up in Australia – found it hard to believe that he was able to film the three actors cutting them up, so to speak .

“I always had this image of these three guys on surveillance together in the car; it was just imprinted in my brain,” Molloy said previously. Weekly Entertainment. “And then I remember sitting with the three of them in this car, and I actually looked around at the crew filming the movie. I just saw on everyone's faces, like, Oh man, this is exactly where we want to be right now.

Meanwhile, on screen, Murphy's daughter Jane is played by ZolaIt's Taylor Paige. Jane finds herself in a difficult situation when she agrees to take on the case of a suspected cop killer, only to uncover a conspiracy among Beverly Hills' finest. Jane's ex, detective. Bobby Abbott is played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and while he can't tase Foley, they have plenty of opportunities to bond and bicker.
