Eaton Township man charged in fatal shooting

A 29-year-old woman was fatally shot on May 26.

A 34-year-old Eaton Township man has been charged in connection with the murder, according to a news release from the Lorain County Sheriff's Office.

At 11:12 p.m., Lorain County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at a residence on Melody Lane for a report of a shooting, the release states.

Police located the victim inside the residence. Medical personnel present at the scene pronounced him dead, the press release said.

The woman's name has been withheld pending notification of her family.

Clifford L. Serafine Jr. was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Lorain County Sheriff's Office.

Serafine was then transported to the Lorain County Correctional Center, where he was charged with murder, felonious assault, domestic violence, tampering with evidence and using weapons while intoxicated, records show release and prison.

He is scheduled to appear May 28 in Elyria Municipal Court.

The investigation into the woman's death continues.
