East Wenatchee brush fire burning near homes, evacuations | Columbia Basin

UPDATE 7:10 p.m. – Wenatchee Valley Fire Chief Brian Brett confirmed crews have fully contained the Webb Avenue fire in East Wenatchee. Brett told Source ONE News the fire was brought under control around 7 p.m. The wind-fueled fire grew to approximately 80 acres in four hours. Firefighters also confirmed the fire broke out near the waste management plant, but the cause remains under investigation. No structures burned and no one was injured.

EAST WENATCHEE – A 17-acre brush fire is burning a hillside near East Wenatchee Tuesday afternoon. The fire is burning on Webb Avenue in East Wenatchee, near 4th Street. High winds contributed to the fire's significant growth, prompting Level 2 evacuations for the area of ​​Batterman Rd., Anderson Lane, Keane Grade Rd. and Sageland Rd. Batterman Road between the Pangborn roundabout and Keane Grade Rd. has been closed while crews work. No structures were burned or injured as a result of the three-alarm fire. State crews are getting involved as resources continue to increase to fight the fire. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Air assets and ground teams are currently dealing with the fire.
