East Texas cancer survivor graduates high school early

She was inspired to become a nurse because of her cancer journey, as she received excellent treatment from her nurses.

HENDERSON, Texas — Congratulations are in order for Addison Graham!

The Henderson teen, who won her two-year battle with leukemia last year, graduated from high school a year early. She walked across the stage in her cap and gown Thursday night alongside her Henderson High School classmates at Lion Stadium.

After graduating high school, Addison will attend Baylor University to study nursing. She was awarded the Erik Kimmey and Olivia Nolley Scholarship presented by the Gold Network of East Texas as well as the Dr. James and Katherine Mann Memorial Scholarship. She received second place in the Rotary Club speech competition.

She was inspired to become a nurse because of her cancer journey, as she received excellent treatment from her nurses.

Addison was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a blood cancer, at age 14. On June 2, 2023, Addison rang to signify her victory in the fight against cancer.

In 2021, a sea of ​​supporters gathered in downtown Henderson when she first learned of the diagnosis. She recalls with amazement how many people cared about her.
