East Orange police investigating violent stabbing incident at residential building

East Orange police are investigating a violent stabbing incident that took place inside a building Thursday morning.

Residents and surveillance cameras at the scene indicated that around 1:29 a.m., police responded to a distress call at a multi-family building at 105 Park Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered several victims suffering from serious stab wounds.

All the injured were taken to the university hospital and are in serious condition. The victims include an adult woman and at least one child.

The victims' family told RLS Media that a woman and her two children, aged approximately 1 and 4, were inside the apartment, but it is unclear whether she was sharing the apartment with anyone else.

The Essex County District Attorney's Office said the incident is currently being handled by East Orange police.

The motive for the stabbing remains under active and ongoing investigation, with no arrests reported to date.
