East Lyme police chief arrested: State Police

Michael Finkelstein faces charges of disturbing the peace and disturbing the peace, according to state police.

EAST LYME, Conn. — The East Lyme police chief has been arrested and placed on administrative leave, Connecticut State Police announced Wednesday.

Michael Finkelstein faces charges of disorderly conduct and second-degree breach of peace, state police said.

City First Selectman Dan Cunningham said it was his understanding that the arrest and charges were related to a domestic incident and that Finkelstein had been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.

Cunningham added that an emergency meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners will be held Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. to discuss who will fill Finkelstein's role.
