EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ—A local man, Heng Shao, 40, was arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a victim multiple times in East Brunswick. The East Brunswick Police Department made the arrest following a collaborative effort with neighboring jurisdictions.

The incident occurred on Wednesday June 12, 2024, around 2:08 p.m. The victim, who was attacked at a residence on Buttonwood Drive, managed to flee to a home on Winding Woods Drive in Sayreville, where emergency services were alerted. The victim was then transported to a local hospital with his injuries not life-threatening.

Police response quickly leads to arrest

Responding to a tip from the Sayreville Police Department, East Brunswick officers attempted to locate the suspect at the residence on Buttonwood Drive. Shao, identified as the victim's son, had previously fled the scene in a silver Honda Accord. A subsequent investigation led officers to the Menlo Park Mall in Edison, where Shao was arrested by Edison police and then taken into custody by East Brunswick police.

Shao faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility. It is important to note that the charges against Shao are merely accusations and that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

    Escaped prisoner found in Queen Anne's County

    ANNAPOLIS, MD—James Cash Gregory, an escaped prisoner from Anne Arundel County's Jennifer Road Detention Center, has been successfully recaptured in Queen Anne's County. Gregory initially escaped from Anne Arundel Medical Center around 11 a.m. today.

    Before his capture, Gregory was last seen near Truxtun Park in Annapolis. He was described as wearing green detention center pants and no shirt. Authorities had advised the public not to approach him and to call or text 911 if he was seen.

  • Ohio man arrested for firing paintball gun during road rage incident in Maryland

    FRIENDSHIP OF THE WEST, MD— Ohio resident James Wells, 39, was arrested this morning by Maryland State Police after allegedly pointing a paintball gun at another driver during a road rage incident on Interstate 70 in Howard County.

    The incident was reported to the police

    The altercation happened around 9:30 a.m. Friday, west of the West Friendship Scale House on I-70 West. The victim, who reported the incident to Maryland State Police at the Waterloo barracks, described a tense encounter with the driver of a blue Chevrolet, later identified as Wells. Fearing for his safety, the victim immediately called 911 and provided the attacker's license plate number.

    Police intervention and investigation

    Troopers from the Frederick Barracks responded by locating and stopping the suspect vehicle on westbound I-70 at MD-15 in Frederick. During the traffic stop, Wells admitted to brandishing a loaded paintball gun, which he then turned over to police.

    After consulting with the Howard County State's Attorney's Office, Wells was charged with first-degree assault and taken to the Howard County Department of Corrections for processing. The incident highlights the dangers of aggressive behavior on the roads and the serious legal consequences that can result.
