Early morning fire damages south Bristol condo – Finger Lakes Daily News

The rapid response of firefighters limited the spread of a fire in an Ontario County condo complex Wednesday morning.

Cheshire Fire and Bristol Fire were dispatched to the scene at the first alarm. Cheshire Deputy Leader John Springer requested the second alarm mission as well as the tanker task force.

When Deputy Chief Springer arrived, he discovered heavy smoke emanating from the rear of the structure located on the fourth floor of a large five-story building. Crews from Cheshire Engine 411 deployed 300 feet of handline and launched an aggressive interior attack while the crew from Truck 281 from the town of Canandaigua conducted a primary search to ensure no occupants were inside. the interior.

Cheshire Fire Chief Chris Brown said that thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of all firefighters at the scene, the fire was brought under control within fifteen minutes of appliances arriving, preventing significant damage. and ensuring the security of neighboring condos.

Crews checked the extension of neighboring condos with negative results. An overhaul was carried out to ensure the fire was completely extinguished. The fire damage was limited to one apartment.

The building was safely evacuated and no injuries to residents or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Ontario County Emergency Management Services.
