Drunk teen accused of attacking police officer in Woodbridge

PRINCE WILLIAM, VA – A 15-year-old Woodbridge man has been charged following an incident involving an attempted tampering with a vehicle and an assault on a law enforcement officer. The incident happened in the early hours of May 26 near Delaware Drive and Maryland Avenue.

Prince William County Police officers, who were patrolling the area, observed the youth attempting to get into several vehicles. After making contact, police determined that the individual was intoxicated. When they attempted to arrest him, the juvenile actively resisted but was ultimately arrested without further major incident. A police officer was slightly injured during the clash.

After consultations with juvenile court services, formal charges were filed on May 28. The charges against the juvenile include one count of battery on a law enforcement officer, one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of tampering with a vehicle and one count of public intoxication.

The case is now expected to go to court, with a court date pending. The minor has been charged and petitions have been obtained as the legal proceedings progress.
