Shamli: A 38-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab. Police seized around 1 kg of opium worth Rs 15 lakh and Rs 1.6 lakh in cash from Imran Hussain, a resident of Sherghati in Bihar. The police questioned him to dismantle the network. Circle officer Shyam Singh said Shamli police, acting on a specific tip-off, laid a trap on Kairana Road near Orchid Hotel and apprehended Hussain. Officials said Imran was transporting opium from Gaya, Bihar, to supply various key locations in the three northern states. .
