Drug investigation leads to four arrests and rescued baby deer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Cass County Sheriff's Office reported the arrests of four people following a drug investigation Friday morning in Belton, Missouri. However, while searching the house, the police made a rather strange discovery.

According to law enforcement, around 11 a.m. Friday, deputies with the Cass County Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Unit executed a search warrant at a home near Hamilton Lane and West South Avenue.


After investigation, officers seized several items, including suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and cash.

However, perhaps the most shocking discovery was that of a baby deer living inside the house.

A baby deer is rescued from a home by the Cass County Sheriff's Office following an extensive drug investigation in which four people were arrested and the fawn was rescued from inside 'a home in Belton, Missouri on Friday, June 21, 2024.

The fawn, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, was found inside and then recovered by the Missouri Department of Conservation following the investigation.

Law enforcement said two people were arrested on felony warrants: Christopher McGolgin, 39, and Hannah Graham, 42. Both are from Belton.

McGolgin was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon. Bail for each of his charges is $4,000 and both felony warrants were issued out of Cass County.

Graham faces parole violation charges in the state of Kansas, with no bail allowed.

In addition to the two arrests, another man and woman were taken into custody pending criminal charges.

All four suspects are being held at the Cass County Jail.

The identities of the other two suspects have not been released and no details have been released regarding the health and safety of the fawn. However, stay tuned to FOX4 for the latest updates and information on this developing story.
