Driver killed in Fremont crash identified

FREMONT — A driver killed May 21 when his car collided with a tree, leaving a passenger injured, has been identified by authorities.

Juan Alvarez-Gallardo, 19, of Newark, died at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 12:30 a.m. May 21, near the intersection of Fremont Boulevard and Thornton Avenue.
