Driver identified after fatal crash in Graham home

GRAHAM (KFDX/KJTL) — The driver who died after crashing a vehicle into a home in Graham on Saturday, June 8 has been identified by investigating authorities.

According to Graham City Manager Eric Garretty, the deceased has been identified as Juan Carlos Lemus Aguilera. His age and last known place of residence have not been confirmed, Garretty said in a statement dated Monday, June 10, 2024.

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, Garretty said Graham Police Department officers attempted to stop a reckless driver near the Walmart on the city's south side around 5 p.m. The driver failed to stop and then sped off down Elm Street.

Then the driver apparently lost control of the car near the intersection of Elm and State Highway 16, sideswiping another driver traveling nearby before crashing into a house. Graham police said the driver of the sideswiped car was not injured.

Garretty said in a news release Monday that the vehicle driven by Aguilera stopped at a residence in the 800 block of Elm Street. He said the house was occupied by three men aged 39, 23 and 1, and three women aged 45, 24 and 22.

According to Garretty, Graham town officials confirmed that five residents of the home suffered injuries, including a fractured skull, a broken leg and multiple lacerations and abrasions.

Garretty has not confirmed which residents suffered which injuries, and the identities of the injured residents have not been released at this time.

Garretty said in a news release that the casual factors that precipitated the crash remain under investigation by the Graham Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety. He said the city of Graham will provide additional information once the investigation is complete.
